Deadline takes concerns seriously. let's have a talk about things that concern you, bans, and ban appeals.
💭 Things to keep in mind
1️⃣ What you do at Deadline is what matters
You will be held to your conduct here: bringing up prior conduct publicly to discredit and slander someone will not be tolerated.
We understand there may be extremes of conduct elsewhere that cause an unacceptable risk to have someone here which may be an exception to this rule.If someone reports you for prior conduct, you will have a chance to defend yourself.
If someone brings conduct to the staff with documentation, we will discuss it with you directly and give you a chance to refute any accusations -we will not outright ban you without speaking to you. You may be temporarily banned or muted while we resolve the concerns, but open a ticket and we will discuss (if we haven't already).
If you leave the Discord Server before the concern ticket is closed by staff, we understand you have chosen not to play at Deadline and you will be banned. (Appeals may be made.)
We would like to reiterate again that we do not adjudicate issues that occur between players privately off server or on other servers. However, we will address issues brought to us with the players concerned..
2️⃣ You own your experience here
Respect the boundaries of other members
If you have a problem with conversation addressed to you, ask the person to stop. If you're asked to stop, do it. In the case the other person doesn't stop, report it.
This does not mean you can pop into general chat to police it based on your preferences -if people are having a civil conversation on non-inflammatory topics not involving you that you find uncomfortable, you are more than welcome to step to another channel.
Being the change you want to see involves also being active and proposing alternative topics of conversation that can engage others as well.Behave appropriately
We allow a lot more conversation and debate than other servers, which can lead to great conversations that bring understanding and compromise; though it can also lead to flame wars and shit-talking.
Sometimes people are friends and it can be hard for us to figure out what's serious and what's playful -as long as everyone's cool and the rules aren't broken, carry on.
3️⃣ Addressing concerns is about understanding and fixing the problem
- Concern tickets are to talk to you, not to berate you
Concerns are an opportunity to fix issues: this is why we don't use terms like strikes or warnings. It's not a punishment, but a chance to figure out what has happened and be able to react accordingly.
There's no set number of concerns that can arise before someone is banned -everything will depend on the severity of the offense, the ability/willingness to fix the problem, and the intent behind the actions.
Once the matter is resolved, it's done. The staff will keep a record so we understand if there's any repeat behavior, but there's no specific fall-off date.
You can appeal the concern resolution to Management if you like. Their decision will be final.
4️⃣ We'll be as transparent as possible
- Bans and their reason will be posted for everyone to see during 2 weeks
We'll post any bans publicly in a ban list that does not allow commentary for 2 weeks before it moves to an inactive channel only staff has access to.
We will be keeping track of concerns internally but not maintaining any kind of watchlist, and we will not maintain or share any kind of disciplinary database with other games. We know some servers find this helpful, but the risks of keeping and sharing that kind of data outweigh the potential benefit of the information for us.
The time frame of a ban is posted after which time the banned party can appeal with a ticket.
⛔ Bans and ban appeals
❔ What does it mean to be banned?
- Banned people cannot play on the game server or post on the Discord server.
- All bans are permanent. After the period of time posted has passed, they are eligible to appeal unless the ban was specifically tagged as ineligible for appeal.
- After the initial ticket involving the Ban is resolved, the player is removed from the Discord server and their whitelist is revoked.
- Generally, bans are kept separate from in character consequences. Characters are not considered dead if they are banned.
- All home and vehicle claims remain for their usual time frame. They may fall off naturally during the time the person is gone. A person being banned is not justification for a raid or to take their belongings.
- A banned player may contact another player and provide permission to take over vehicle/safehouse claims.
- We do not provide a plot reason for what happens to a person after they are banned. The player can choose to let their group or friends know what their PC might be off doing, but that doesn't involve any staff support.
- Public ban listings generally age off after 2 weeks, but staff does maintain records in case they are needed.
- Spam/Scam/Troll bans from members of the discord who aren't a member of the community are not posted publicly.
- Players who leave the server during a Concern ticket are automatically banned.
❔ What does it mean to appeal?
- The Banned Player completes a Dyno Appeal describing what they were banned for, why they believe they should be allowed to return and any additional information they think we should know.
- Management discusses the appeal and makes a decision.
- Generally, a denied appeal can be made again after a week's waiting period, but in some situations, staff may require a longer wait time or may decline to consider any appeal for egregious behavior or risk to return.
- If the ban is removed, the player can return to the Discord server and must submit an Access Application confirming they understand the rules as any new player would. They will also need to make a General ticket to get their "Approved Character" role back and should contact their Group Leader to get back any Group role.
