Extended Team

🎑 Joining the Extended Team

The Extended Team is made up of players who help Deadline in specialised areas such as modding, mapping, writing, audio design, advertising, testing upcoming featues and portraying NPCs.

Requirements vary depending on the role. Some may require experience with Deadline, examples of previous work, or a good understanding of the rules relevant to what you'll be doing.
If you're interested in joining, make a General ticket and let us know which role you're interested in and any relevant experience.

Extended Team Roles

πŸ“° Advertiser

Responsible for representing Deadline in other public areas and encouraging players. This means not just coordinating efforts so we don't violate the rules of advertising in certain spaces, but also consistent messaging.

They work with staff to preview upcoming changes, share visuals when available, and keep players in the loop about what is coming next. The role also helps build transparency by offering insight into how the staff team operates, acting as a bridge between players and the staff team. They endeavor to ensure that players not only know what is happening, but also understand the reasoning and goals behind major decisions when possible.

πŸ’» Volunteer Modder

Our modders work on projects to make possibility into reality. Each member has one or more mods contributing to the tapestry of Deadline and has agreed to allow us to use their work. Credits are included in the workshop listing of any mod. We do commission mods as well. Feel free to make a red Concern ticket if you find an issue or would like to contact us regarding commissioning.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Volunteer Mapper

They work together to make a consistent would that reflects the story contributions of players and the changes in the world at large. With a 20 year gap between chapters, this takes a lot of hard work. They also create tiles to help populate the custom world. We're overjoyed and thankful to have Tanimal's custom map for Merchant Island for Chapter 2.

πŸ§ͺ Tester

Testers help us catch bugs and problems before new features and mod updates reach the main server.
They test specific changes on the test server, provide feedback, report bugs, and help reproduce issues so they can be fixed.
Testers should be active Deadline players with a good understanding of Project Zomboid and a good history on the server. Previous testing, modding, coding, or other technical experience is helpful but not required.

✍️ Volunteer Writer

Volunteer Writers help create written content for Deadline's world and events. This can include broadcasts, notes, documents, environmental storytelling, NPC dialogue, and other material used by Storytellers to bring the setting to life.

πŸŽ™οΈ Volunteer Audio Artist

Volunteer Audio Artists help create audio used for events and worldbuilding on Deadline. This can include ambient music, sound effects, broadcasts, recordings, and other audio used to make events more immersive.

πŸŽβ€…NPC Squad

NPC Squad members help bring the world to life by portraying characters during events. Working alongside Storytellers they help create immersive encounters for players. They do not have in-game admin powers.
If you're interested in joining the NPC Squad, make an General Ticket. Experience with roleplay and a good understanding of our PvP and dice rules are expected.

🎭 NPC Squad Guidelines

πŸ“– Story first
Your role is to help create memorable scenes for the players: stay in character, react naturally, and focus on telling a good story rather than "winning".

🎬 Portray your NPC
Whether you are part of a faction team (with a theme to follow) or you are tasked with portraying random survivors, make sure to pay attention to the instructions the Storyteller gives you to portray an NPC correctly.

⭐ Let the players shine
Please, do not use this as an opportunity to showboat! The PCs are the stars of the show, so let them have their moments. When players come to an event where there are NPCs, they should not expect to be upstaged by them.

🎭 Play naturally
Treat your NPC like a real person with their own personality and goals. Emote, speak, and interact as though they've always been part of the world.

βš”οΈ Know the rules
Be sure you are familiar with the PVP and dice rules. The Storyteller/Moderator who is running the event should be the one to initiate PVP, unless they say otherwise.

βš–οΈ Stay fair
Do not use NPCs to benefit your own character, your friends, or your group in any way, directly or indirectly.

πŸŽ’ Event equipment & loot
Any equipment you're given for an event should be returned afterwards unless a Storyteller tells you otherwise.
If players are meant to receive loot, check with the Storyteller or Moderator before handing it out.
Also, make sure to keep a simple log of any items given out or lost in your private NPC thread so staff can keep track of them!

🎁 Contributor Perks

Extended Team roles are volunteer positions, but we may occasionally give small rewards as a thank you for particularly helpful contributions.
These may include things like Server Points, Donator level, or similar small perks. Rewards are not guaranteed and are intended as recognition for helping the server, rather than payment or a way to earn significant in-game advantages.
