In-Game Rules

In this section, there's information on different mechanics and the things you can and can't do in game. For example, about disassembling furniture or grabbing tiles from the world.

🏥 Deaths & Respawn

Deaths

  • Deaths from dice combat are subject to dicing with death unless there's an OOC agreement for a different consequence.
  • Mechanical deaths from PvE, sickness, etc, are not permanent unless you choose so.

If you get bitten mechanically, you have two options:

  • Roleplaying the bite: this means that, if you don't amputate, your character will get infected and will die.
Characters that have been around those who have been through this experience or studied it might know that, after 2 IC days have gone by, it's almost always too late to survive.
  • Not roleplaying the bite: You roleplay the bite as a different injury, which means your character was never bitten.
This doesn't mean hiding the bite in-character, it means disregarding that wound completely both IC and OOC.

Respawn

When you die mechanically, your character will fall to the floor and a timer will appear on screen: until it runs out, other players will have the chance to right click on you to tend to your wounds and revive you. Remember to roleplay wounds accordingly!

If the timer runs out, you will have the usual death menu. When you click on "create new character", you only need to choose your appearance, as you will get a file in your inventory that you can read to regain your profession, skills, recipes, traits... Read the file twice if it doesn't work on the first go and, if you're still having trouble, open a ticket!

Communities can work to create a hospital/clinic for their members to respawn in! Check out how to do so in groups and communities.

♻️ Dismantling

❔ What is dismantling and why is it not allowed?

In solo PZ people often dismantle tiles and items all over the map to level up their skills and furnish their bases, which makes the world barren and uninteresting to the other players you share it with in a multiplayer server.

❔ How do I level up then?

If you want to level up, check out the training tab in the craft helper or the crafting menu! We have a mod that allows you to easily level up most basic skills for a small price, like planks for carpentry and scrap electronics for electrical.

🪛 What can/can't I dismantle or take?

Radios

As long as you don't litter, you can dismantle them -take the items with you or place them in a container, or trash them.

If you want to take a car's radio, you must follow the vehicle dismantling rules.

Common furniture/floors

Things like TVs, stoves, beds... and carpets, wooden floors, tile floors...

  • You cannot dismantle them for levelling your skills.
  • You may pick up a small amount of these items to furnish your home.
If you open a ticket, admins will create a copy of the furniture -unless it's not allowed- and deliver it at your home. Check out how in the tilepicking guide [Discord]
  • Flooring can be easily built by pretty much any player: check out the building menu to see all the tiles you can craft yourself! Structural stuff, crates, furniture... if you can't find it, you can open a crafting ticket.

Unique/rare items

Things like rare furniture or decorations or tiles from event locations, or museum pieces, special rugs, artwork...

Don't take these, so everyone can enjoy the world and get them for their own base: open a tilepick ticket!

‼️ Important: Do not remove items from locations labeled Event Location.

Structural components

Things like walls, fences, gates, doors...

  • You cannot dismantle or destroy any of these for materials or to break into a spot, unless they're a part of your safehouse. If it's right outside of your safehouse, open a ticket and we'll help you!
  • Nails, door hinges, and doorknobs are all craftable.
  • If you need to break into a building, you may open a raid ticket, as breaking structures is forbidden. If you want to know how to raid, check here.

🚯 Littering

❔ What is littering and why is it bad?

Littering is leaving on the ground any item that doesn't despawn. It's a solo PZ habit to drop all items on the floor to trigger loot cycling, which is an abuse of the mechanic and causes lag for everyone.

Dropping broken weapons on the floor is also considered littering -if you right click on an item in your inventory you will see an option to delete the item. Make use of this mechanic.

You can see the current Despawn List here.
